Good when it works, but inconsistent

I originally purchased the auto feeder so that the kids could set up a batting session on their own without me having to hand feed baseballs to them. However, the machine is too inconsistent for that. What should be simple in theory (a ramp that balls roll down with a wheel that restricts/allows balls into the pitching machine) is not well executed in operation.

During use, the machine will get stuck, and no ball will be fed. Then all of a sudden, the jam will clear, and anywhere from 2-4 balls will be pitched in rapid succession. As you can imagine, this could be dangerous if the batter finished his swing leaning forward.

The manufacturer recommends use of dimpled practice balls for better performance, which is a little frustrating given that the Bata-2 is marketed as being able to throw real baseballs. I'd like to have my training sessions approximate the real thing as closely as possible, and I was hoping to have something that was able to auto-feed baseballs.

Ed,
Thanks for providing your thoughts on the BATA Auto-Feeder. Sorry to hear some of the balls are getting stuck on occasion. Is the ground level where the auto feeder is set up? You might try propping the legs so that their is a steeper pitch on the ramp to see if this helps. Let us know if this doesn't work for you. Also, you CAN use leather baseballs, but they will not be as consistent as Dimpled or Low Seam balls. This is not only true with our pitching machines but with all pitching machines.

Ball Feeder... sometimes??

Ok... this thing does work and does the job... you'll have to adjust because balls do get stuck due to various reasons. Ground , seams on the ball etc...
otherwise once you get the bugs worked out it's good.

Hayden,
Thanks for your purchase of the Automatic Ball Feeder. Scarred balls can definetly hang up. Depending on where you place it, you might consider having the rear support leg directly behind it. If you flip the foot, it will increase the ramp a bit and help the balls to feed a bit better. Hope that helps!

Remote control unit

The remote plug in unit gets really hot and doesn't work. The feeder hasn't been used yet since our weather hasn't been cooperative.

Amin,
Hey, give us a call so we can get you taken care of. We are happy to replace the remote for you.
